Product Description
Lewitt DTP 640 REX
Kick Drum and Low Freq. Instrument Microphone
The bigger, badder brother of the DTP 340 REX, the DTP 640 REX is Lewitt's flagship model from the DTP Percussion Series. Featuring variable controlled dual element technology and a finely calibrated frequency response, the DTP 640 REX offers unsurpassed quality of sound and build that will astonish even the most professional drummers and audio engineers.
Equipped with a high quality dynamic element for assurance of accuracy in reproducing the bass drum's kick and a condenser element that is optimized to capture the rich, low frequencies of the the drum's shell - the DTP 640 REX guarantees full control over both elements by allowing the two to be mixed individually on their own channels using the included DTP 40 Trs Cable which seperates from a single 5-pin XLR connection at the microphone end to split standard XLR outputs at the gain stage, 1 for Condenser, 1 for Dynamic - simple.
Since it's inception in 2012, the DTP 640 REX has offered two extra features. The 3-position switchable "Enhanced Frequency Response" (EFR) provides various tailored frequency responses on separate channels for maximum creative freedom.
The EFR switch has 3 different options depending on the situation and the desired sound:
- = // = ‘Flat Frequency Response’ – Especially suited for recording bass-heavy instruments and for placing the DTP 640 REX outside the kick drum. With the FFR switch setting, both elements offer a relatively neutral reproduction of sound.
- + // = ‘Dynamic Enhanced Frequency Response’ – Emphasizes dynamic element frequency ranges relevant for the kick drum sound. The condenser element makes the sound neutral again.
- + // + ‘Dual Enhanced Frequency Response’ – Especially designed for recording kick drums. The condenser element focuses on frequencies from 70 to 150 Hz and delivers a full body sound. The dynamic element delivers an punchy attack by focusing on the range between 3 and 5 kHz.
The combination of these features as well as a 3-setting Pad switch and the comprehensive tonal freedom of dual-element technology greatly increasing it's range of use, the DTP 640 REX is a universal tool for any and all bass-heavy applications.
Features:
- Innovative dual-element design (dynamic and back-electret condenser) accurately captures the sharp attack of the beater as well as the round tonalities of the shell for unrivaled realism
- 3-position switchable "Enhanced Frequency Response" provides various tailored frequency responses on separate channels for maximum creative freedom
- Frequency response specifically tuned for kick drum applications and bass instruments 3-position switchable pre-attenuation pad (0 dB, 10 dB, and 20 dB) for handling extremely high sound pressure levels
- Hardened hexagonal ruthenium-galvanized steel mesh grille to prevent wear and abuse
- Integrated stand adapter for quick and easy mounting and positioning Corrosion-resistant gold-plated 5-pin XLR output connector
- Comes in a cardboard box with foam layers; includes DTP 40 Trs cable and DTP 40 Lb artificial leather bag
*An extra 4m, 5-pin extension mic cable is availabe in the DTP 40
